Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble Gobble 馃

Thanksgiving is a North American holiday that is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, and the third Thursday of October in Canada. In conversation class the week of November 15th, we learned the story of the first Thanksgiving, which involves how the Pilgrims left Plymouth, England in the year 1620 and landed in what is now the Northeastern United States. We learned about traditional Thanksgiving foods like turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and pumpkin pie, and talked about the first Thanksgiving dinner with the Native American Indians and Pilgrims at Plymouth rock. During the week of November 22nd, we talked about what we are most thankful for in our lives… family, friends, school, and more!

The Spanish shared salted pork, garbanzo beans and held a mass in Florida 1565.

In this blog, you can find the activities that we are doing as well as resources on several cultural topics. The aim of the bicultural-bilingual program is to enrich the lives of students by incorporating traditions and festitives celebrated in other countries whilst reinforcing the English they learn in the classroom.
