Happy New Year!!!!!!Chinese Of Course 

                                       ¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO! Chino por supuesto 


This year we will be celebrating the year of the Ox! In grades 5 and 4 they learned about the Chinese Lunar New Year traditions as well as refreshed their knowledge about animals by learning the Chinese Zodiac. The origins of the Chinese Zodiac come from the Legend of the Great Race which was held by the Jade Emperor in order to measure time. The students had to do some math and calculate their Chinese Zodiac signs and those of their parents! Those born in 2010 were born in the year of the GOLD TIGER, while those born in 2011 are born in the year of the Rabbit.

Este año se celebrará el año del buey. En los cursos de 4º y 5º de primaria los estudiantes han tenido la oportunidad de aprender sobre esta importante tradición y el calendario lunar además de refrescar sus conocimientos sobre los animales aprendiendo el zodiaco chino.  En todo China existe una leyenda muy popular que podría describirse como el origen del horóscopo chino. El Emperador de Jade, gobernante del cielo, llamó a una carrera a todos los animales del mundo y dijo que los doce primeros entrarían en el zodiaco. Para llegar a su encuentro, debían cruzar un río. 
Nuestros estudiantes tuvieron que poner en práctica sus conocimientos sobre las matemáticas y calcular su signo del zodiaco el de sus padres. Los que nacieron en el 2010 son tigres mientras que los que nacieron en el 2011 son conejos. 



The purpose of this exercise was not only to review animal vocabulary but to expand their knowledge of personality adjectives whilst learning about and respecting the traditions of another culture. The students read all the personality traits of all the zodiac signs and were tasked to describe themselves with 5 new adjectives they had learned. 



El propósito de esta actividad era revisar el vocabulario relacionado con los animales, además de aprender nuevo léxico relacionado con los adjetivos para describir a personas y aprender .

 WELCOME TO OUR BLOG ABOUT THE BICULTURAL-BILINGUAL PROJECT!      Last year, we decided to embark on a new project for our students which is going to help them to improve their skills in English as well as expose them to different cultures, values and traditions.
