Halloween


Happy Halloween! 馃懟馃崿 

    During the weeks of October 18th and October 25th, each grade in primary made a different craft related to Halloween. We made cotton bud skeletons, paper pumpkins, cats, balloon aliens, hand witches, yarn spider webs, and more! In conversation class, we learned a lot about the tradition of Halloween and how it has evolved from what it first was in the 18th century to what we know it as today. We learned about the ancient Irish Celts, All Saints Day, end of autumn celebrations, jack o´ lanterns, trick or treating, and other common traditions.

In our Bilingual Bicultural project the 2nd grade students are continuing with animal related activities. Taking advantage of Women's day they also learned about Jane Goodall and her research about chimps.  Los alumnos de 2潞 de Primaria en nuestro Proyecto Bicultural, siguiendo con las actividades relacionadas con los animales y aprovechando el D铆a Internacional de la Mujer, han conocido a Jane Goodall y su investigaci贸n sobre los chimpanc茅s.  What an interesting science class! ¡Una clase sobre cient铆ficas muy interesante!

Gobble Up!!!!!

    Thanksgiving!  Did you know that Thanksgiving is not only celebrated in the US but also in Canada?  ¿Sab铆as que Acci贸n de Gracias, a parte de en Estados Unidos, tambi茅n se celebra en Canad谩?  Canada celebrates Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October instead of November. Thanksgiving in both Canada and the US is a holiday which celebrates the harvest of the year. The US holiday is modeled by the harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) and the native american Wapangoag People in Plymouth. However, it is believed to have dated farther back, as decades before this event Spanish settlers and members of the Seloy tribes broke bread together. The Spanish shared salted pork, garbanzo beans and held a mass in Florida 1565.  En Canad谩, se celebra en el segundo lunes de octubre, en vez de en noviembre. Farm Animals

  We are continuing with animals in our Bilingual Bicultural project! The 1st grade students have created a beautiful farm with various farm animals. Through this activity we have learned the names of farm animals, their sounds and the different parts of each animal, all accompanied with songs related to this topic! They had a great time!  En nuestro Proyecto Bicultural seguimos trabajando los animales, en esta ocasi贸n con los alumnos de 1潞 de Primaria que han realizado una bonita granja con sus animales. A trav茅s de esta actividad hemos conocido los nombres de los animales que viven en la granja, su sonidos, las diferentes partes de cada animal y todo ello acompa帽ado de divertidas canciones relacionadas con esta tem谩tica. ¡Lo han pasado genial!
